A Fall That Increased Faith

There is something beautiful about being encouraged in the Lord by someone you ministered to long before they were a mature believer. You look back and see how much they have grown in their faith, and you are reminded of God’s power to bring abundant fruit from what may have seemed like a small beginning.

Our partner Rose recently sent us an account of her longtime friend, Suad, who has been enduring intense pain after a frightening accident. In the midst of that suffering, Suad has been proclaiming the goodness of God with remarkable strength.

From Rose - The Four-Story Fall

"Suad is a woman from Nazareth whom I have followed up with and trained in ministry for many years. Today, she serves as one of the key coordinators for the Mother’s Day Celebration ministry.

Recently, Suad suffered a devastating accident. She fell from the fourth floor down an elevator shaft. When her family called me, they told me that her condition was critical and that her life was in great danger. Immediately, I prayed with them over the phone. After the call, I went into my room, continued praying, and declared life over Suad in the name of Jesus.

About ten minutes later, her family called me back with unexpected news: Suad had woken up.

Because of the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to a hospital in Haifa that was better equipped to treat her condition. Doctors began performing multiple surgeries, and she still has additional procedures scheduled. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Suad gradually began improving. Eventually, she became strong enough to use her phone, and we were able to speak with her and pray together regularly.

As soon as her condition allowed visitors, we went to see Suad in the hospital. During our visit, she shared something remarkable with us. She said that as she was falling down the elevator shaft, she felt hands carrying her. With deep conviction, she testified that she knows it was God Himself carrying and protecting her. She also told us that she is determined to share this testimony everywhere she goes.

Throughout the visit, Suad continually thanked and praised the Lord. Even while enduring pain and recovery, her faith remained strong and unwavering, and we ourselves were deeply encouraged by her testimony."

Rose also told us that the first time she met Suad nearly twenty years ago, it was right after Suad had suffered a severe back injury. A mutual friend had asked Rose to visit her, and she did. That small act of kindness to a stranger became an opportunity to share the love and hope of Christ, and Suad made a decision to follow Him that day. Rose testified that she and Suad have built a friendship and served in ministry together ever since.

One choice to follow God’s leading resulted in a whole new field for Kingdom sowing and harvesting. A simple home visit became a time of prayer that laid the foundation for years of friendship and ministry leadership. This is what happens when the people of God show up right where they are and do what He places on their hearts, not because they can see the fruit right away, but because they trust it will be born in due time.
