God Is Moving Across Generations

As CHLF looks back on over forty years of ministry in the Holy Land, we are reminded that lasting impact takes shape slowly over time and usually begins with small acts of obedience and faith. Stepping into the lives of neighbors and walking with them through all stages of life might just be our most radical strategy. Our partner Rose tells this story of the legacy of faith that can begin with a simple home visit.

From Rose - Lina and Her Daughter

"Many years ago, when I first began my ministry, I started holding small home groups in the small villages around Galilee. I would visit women in their homes, and they in turn would invite their friends and neighbors to join. Sometimes even their husbands would sit and listen to the Word of God being shared.

One of the women who opened both her heart and her home to this ministry was Lina, from a Muslim village called Maghar. It was deeply moving to watch her faith grow and to see how it touched her entire family. She began attending church and bringing her children with her to the meetings, and over time, they too came to love the Lord. Today, they are all grown—and some even serve on the worship team.

When I first started visiting Lina’s home, her daughter Jwan was just a little girl. I remember holding her on my lap while we sang worship songs, and after each meeting, praying with her as she nestled in my arms—such a sweet, joyful child. Years have passed, and that same little girl is now a young woman. Recently, I had the joy and honor of attending her wedding. Her husband, Jan, is a devoted believer, a gifted musician, and a worship leader from a northern village called Fasuta.

I can hardly express what I felt that day. To see Jwan—the little girl who once sat on my lap—standing before the Lord in marriage, beginning a new life in faith, was profoundly moving. To witness a new, Bible-believing, God-fearing home being established, and to know that God allowed me to play even a small part in her journey, filled my heart with gratitude and awe.

Rose also sent us a testimony of God's goodness to a friend going through a very difficult time.

From Rose - God’s Healing Hand

"One of the women I regularly follow up with reached out to me in distress, asking that I come and pray for her right away. She explained that she had been diagnosed with a serious heart arrhythmia, and her doctors had scheduled her for a cardiac ablation to block the faulty electrical signals causing the problem.

I went to visit her, and together we prayed, lifting her need before the Lord. As we prayed, she said she felt God’s healing hand touching her heart and restoring her body.

Later, when she arrived at the hospital for the procedure, the doctor examined her again—only to find that her heartbeat was completely normal. The arrhythmia was gone. The doctor was puzzled, unable to explain what had happened. But she knew exactly what had taken place: God had healed her."

We love to receive these reminders of the work God is doing through our ministry partners! Most of the time, the daily efforts of ministry seem quite ordinary. It may not feel like much is happening in the moment when a child is held during a worship service or a home visit and prayer with a suffering friend. But each simple act of faithfulness adds up to an immeasurable amount of impact.
