She Cried Out, "Lord Protect Bshara And Michel!!"

This post was originally sent as an email newsletter to CHLF supporters on March 13th, 2026.

Earlier this week I sent out an urgent request for prayer for our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. Within hours our inbox began filling with messages from individuals, families, and churches across the country saying the same thing:

“We are praying.”

Dozens of you wrote to tell us that you stopped what you were doing and lifted up the believers in Galilee before the Lord. Some of you shared that your entire church paused to pray together.

Please know this: those messages have been shared with our team and I am personally deeply grateful to you for your encouragement.

In moments like this it is easy for believers living under constant violence and oppression to feel isolated and forgotten. Your words reminded them that they are not standing alone.

Yesterday we received a message from Randa who, along with her husband Bshara, serves courageously just a few miles south of the Lebanese border.

Their family has chosen to remain there, raising their children and continuing to minister to their community even as attacks continue around them.

She shared this testimony with me:

"Dear Matt,

I want to share a testimony of something that happened to us and to witness about the Lord’s protection and His faithfulness to His children. Last night we went through terrifying moments that are hard to describe. The sounds were so powerful that our ears could hardly bear them. Our house shook violently and thunder-like explosions filled the area around us. I kept asking myself: Are we dreaming? Is this really happening? It felt like watching a dramatic movie, but suddenly you realize this is not a film. You are living this reality.

At 8:00 p.m. my husband Bshara and my son Michel left the house for a small errand. Minutes later the siren suddenly sounded and at that same moment we began to hear powerful explosions that shook our home. My children and I ran to the shelter without even realizing what we were doing.

The siren and the explosions seemed to come together at the same moment.

When I entered the shelter the sounds were so terrifying that I began to scream loudly and hid in the corner crying out:

“Lord, protect Bshara and Michel!”

In my heart it was as if I was declaring the words of Scripture: “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.” For those moments I did not know if I was crying because of the explosions or because of my fear for Bshara and Michel. Only a few moments passed, but to me they felt like long hours.

Then after just a few minutes Bshara and Michel rushed back into the shelter, shocked by what they had experienced because the explosions were happening right above them. Later we learned that a rocket had fallen in the exact place and at the exact time they had just passed by, right next to our home. But our faithful God protected them and covered them. Not a single hair from their heads was harmed, because our God is alive and He is good and faithful.

Glory to the Lord."

This is the reality many of our brothers and sisters are living with right now.

They are raising children, shepherding churches, feeding the poor, and sharing the hope of Christ while sirens, rockets, and uncertainty surround them. Yet their faith remains steady.

Please continue standing with them.

With Gratitude,

Matt Nance, PhD
