We Love Camp For All!

Many of us have fond memories of going to summer camp as children. We may even have had a variety to choose from, such as church camp, music camp, science camp, sports camp, and more.

For children with disabilities in Jordan, however, camp of any kind is not an option. In a country where limited resources compound the barriers created by inaccessible public spaces and transportation, schools without adaptive equipment and teaching methods, and churches without wheelchair ramps, summer camps simply are not designed with them in mind.

That is where our partner Inclusive Jordan comes in.

Together, we recently wrapped up five unforgettable days of Camp For All, a first of its kind in Jordan annual camp intentionally created for children with and without disabilities to enjoy together.

Camp For All does more than provide an accessible experience for children with additional needs. Integration is central to its purpose. Jordanian society has not historically welcomed people with disabilities into everyday community life, and the stigma surrounding disability remains strong.

Camp For All offers a different vision. It helps children without disabilities recognize that everyone is equally worthy of friendship, dignity, and belonging, not only those who walk, speak, or learn as they do. That kind of societal change happens when people share life together and begin to see the world from one another’s perspective.

The impact this ministry has on the campers is incredible, but what encourages us just as much is seeing the transformation taking place in local churches and among young Christian volunteers as they grow in their passion for this ministry within their own communities. Take a minute to listen to their testimonies:

Reem (volunteer):

"I saw how Muna (a camper with a disability) was always asking about all the other children, caring for them, and helping them. My heart was beating with emotion. Everything felt like a dream come true. It was more than just a camp, it was a message of love and acceptance. Bringing children with disabilities together with other children in one place teaches us that our differences do not prevent friendship, and that every person has a place and inherent worth.”

Noni (volunteer):

"When I saw the girls (campers with disabilities transitioning from institutional care) sharing their chips and feeding each other, it had a huge impact on me. It was completely different from how they were when they first arrived. Once the insecurity around food was gone, they were able to genuinely care for and love each other."

Katia (volunteer):

"One moment that has remained deeply etched in my heart was when one of the campers with disability looked at me and said she did not want to go home because she was so happy being with us. Hearing those words overwhelmed me with emotion and left me speechless. It was a powerful reminder of how meaningful kindness, belonging, and authentic human connection can be. That moment touched me in a profound way and strengthened my understanding of why volunteering is so important to me. It showed me that even the smallest acts of compassion can have a lasting and meaningful impact on someone's life, and it is a feeling I will carry with me for a long time."

We are so thrilled to be part of this extraordinary Kingdom work! Lives are truly being transformed. Children are feeling a deep sense of belonging that they have never felt before, and experiencing childhood joys that many of us take for granted. Families who used to isolate in shame are being welcomed into the loving community of Christ.
